Recently releasing his new original, “Five Hours” on LE7ELS Records, Deorro, gives us a sneak peak on his fantastic new remix of Gareth Emery’s “Lights & Thunder” track featuring Krewella. Keeping that sweet Melbourne bounce vibe, he introduces a surprise reggae twist for the ending to accommodate his irrepressible jumpy vibes. So here’s my remix to Light’s And Thunder.

There’s many things about this remix.
I brought in a bunch of the older Ton!c sounds but every single lead you hear in the drop (except the sawtooth dutch lead and the krewella vocal) are all my voice. So the process of the sound design was a bit longer than usual. There’s another big room drop with a progressive feel to it. I also recorded myself clapping, and doing a couple other loops you’ll hear in the full track.

Now the ending was what i was excited to do.
I’ve always loved reggae, and ive been wanting to add it to some of my tracks.
So i picked up my guitar, put together some drum samples i recorded, added some more of my vocals recorded on my iphone, whipped up a vintage sounding organ, brought in the melody i used for the progressive drop with a lead that was also created with my voice, and tried to make the whole piece sound like an actual reggae band. The trick was blending it all smoothly and come together so it works. So i hope you guys dig it!

also, the reggae doesn’t come in that soon, there’s a full minute outro before that comes in, this was just an edit i did for preview.

TROPKILLAZ might not get as much attention as their trap contemporaries but they have consistently released some of the heaviest tunes since they started releasing tracks just over a year ago.

The Brazilian duo typically drops at least one track a month and January is no different. “Badman” features off beat reggae guitar and a typical Jamaican vocal sample. The duo has released the track for free.

The relatively old duo comprised of DJ Zegon (Kanye West, Ol Dirty Bastard and David Byrne) and Laudz (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg) has yet to release a full length or E.P. but seems content treating the world to bass heavy tracks played around the world.

We should expect to hear more Rasta-inspired tracks from the duo in the future as they just returned from Jamaica and had this to say,

I’m still holding out for a TROPKILLAZ festival appearance stateside but I’m sure this a dream that might never come to fruition.

The classic 1984 Bob Marley and the Wailers’ album Legend is about to get an EDM face lift. The new release, Legend: Remixed will include remixes by artists like Pretty Lights, Thievery Corporation, Photek, and Z-Trip. Some of the Marley brothers including Stephen and Ziggy will also be taking a stab at some remixes.

Leading up to the release of the album, bobmarley.com will feature exclusive behind the scenes videos of the some of the making of the remixes.

One of the more interesting things about the release of these remixes is that they will all feature the original tracks from the 1984 record — including some never before heard samples and tracks from Marley and the Wailers.

Still, many of us are wondering if this is a good or bad thing. Isn’t the album called “Legend” because it’s a legendary album that needs no reworking? After listening to the album only once it’s pretty clear that most of these artists are pushing for an “interesting” remix (the Marley brothers should seriously stay out of the EDM scene and stick to reggae).
