Los Angeles’ nu-disco duo, Classixx, headlined The Red Bull Sound Select Tour that traveled through Arizona last weekend making three stops in Tucson, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. Offering free admission with an online RSVP, Red Bull’s Sound Select initiative celebrates local music by breaking down boundaries and working to bring artists and fans closer together on a national scale. Being an avid follower of Classixx’s contagiously groovy, Saturday-Night-Fever style, I eagerly RSVP’ed for the chance to party down with them for free.

Friday night the tour bus pulled up to Phoenix’s intimately hip Crescent Ballroom ready to fill the venue with ultra smooth, electro funk. From the lavish Red Bull sponsored cocktails to the charismatic crowd, Crescent’s homey ambience was amplified becoming the ideal venue for a night full of blissful, disco vibin’.

The night’s progression into a ruthless boogyfest began with a sequence of emerging electronic trio bands: Hustle and Drone, The Flavr Blue, and Superhumanoids. L.A.’s dream-pop new-wave band, Superhumanoids took the stage and effortlessly readied the anxious crowd for Classixx.

As Tyler Blake and Michael David, better known as Classixx, prepared their delightfully minimalistic stage setup, the anticipation in the room was amplified and the crowd’s growing energy became apparent. By the time their ultra-catchy “Is This How You Feel” Remix was finished playing, Classixx had every fan in the room captivated. Vivaciously implementing bouncy synths, soulful guitar riffs, and progressive basslines live, they sparked a dance party with the entire audience inherently gettin’ down.

Classixx brought their unmistakable fusion of 80’s synth pop with indie-rock to Phoenix causing the walls of the Crescent Ballroom to overflow with disco fever inspired house music. Looping through their catalogue of familiar and celebrated remixes combined with fresh originals, Classixx nostalgically enchants a vast array of audiences.

Get my paper writer to complete your assignments so that you can dedicate your time to the business.

Pixabay

Students fail to implement brilliant ideas because they lack capital. However, there are excellent business ideas you can consider that will change your financial fortunes without demanding too much capital. To avoid compromising your performance while you work on the business, get professional help at this essay writing website so that you can meet submission deadlines for your assignments.

Here are excellent but cheap business ideas to try as a student.

Blogging

Blogging platforms offer free portals for creative bloggers to set up their pages. Use the blogging platform to review products, share your opinion, or even create an online store. Running a successful blog only requires time and the choice of a popular niche.

The time you have between lessons and such ordinary gadgets as laptops, tablets, and mobile phones are enough to run a blog. Choose a topic that can attract traffic and employ other means to popularize your blog. This is also a way of launching a career as a writer and opinion shaper while still in college.

Drop-Shipping

Identify items that students or the community around may desire and offer to link the supplier with the buyer. You will only be taking pictures of the items on sale and uploading them online, especially on social media. You only buy the items once someone orders it, meaning that there is no capital expenditure. The clients also pay for the cost of shipping, helping to widen your profit margin. The items you can sell are limitless. If you choose student-friendly items, you can make incredible sales.

Pet-Walking

Peers and neighbors have pets like dogs that require regular walking, exercising, and grooming. Offer to assist with these tasks during your free time. It is one of the most thoughtful business ideas for a college student because it does not require any capital. Furthermore, you organize a convenient schedule that will not interfere with your school routine. If you love pet, it will feel as if you own a pet as well. It is a relaxing venture that also comes with a good pay.

Homework Assistance

Offer to help struggling students with their assignments or with the tough topics at a fee. You will also be using the opportunity to revise for your tests or complete assignments as well. You can offer the services online to expand your niche. It is a business you can do anytime and from anywhere yet it comes with lucrative rewards.

Social Media Influencer

Attract a large social media following and use it to attract sponsorship. Endorse brands at a fee or run campaigns for companies. The ordinary phone is enough to turn you into a much-sort-after influencer.

Pick a business idea that you are enthusiastic about and ready to commit energy to make it work. All ideas require planning so that the business does not interfere with your academic work. Consider a business that you can scale up once you graduate instead of going to look for a job.

Last week, RL Grime‘s post-apocalyptic trap show, Void Tour, rolled through town, and although I wasn’t sitting on pins and needles initially, as soon as I got to the venue for the night, I could tell I was in for a treat. After the slow release of RL Grime’s highly-anticipated rookie full-length album, I knew I had to see what all the hype was about. And as much as I enjoyed the record, I enjoyed RL’s live show tenfold. Lesser known as Henry Steinway, the scene’s top trap-purveyor had me captivated the entire time with his dark, gritty brand of hard-knocking trap and his finessed hip-hop fusion, working in not only everything I wanted to hear that night, but everything I didn’t know I wanted to hear too. The LA-based producer’s seemingly minimal, yet intricately complex stage design accentuated the music perfectly, and allowed the quintessential RL Grime sound to fill the room and take everyone in attendance to the world of Void. As soon as his pyramid light structure sliced through the dark room and the strobes began to blast the packed crowd, my jaw hit the floor–where it remained until the house lights came on two hours later.

Clockwork’s trap-tyrant alter ego took to the stage after Djemba Djemba warmed the crowd with his brain-rattling brand of experimentally fearless bass music, and after a set packed with waves of rolling bass, I moved from my balcony perch down onto the venue’s main floor for what was surely about to be a rowdy affair. With my elbows up, I was ready for RL to take the stage, but I definitely wasn’t ready for what he was about to deliver.

Crusing between everything from Kanye West to Jack Ü, the Beastie Boys to Lil Wayne, Baauer, DJ Snake, and everything in between, RL Grime’s set was loaded with hell-raisers that kept the entire crowd moving all night long. The set was tied together with a collection of Grime’s best, sprinkling in “Mercy,” “Core,” and “Tell Me,” and “Trap on Acid.” Each time he dropped one of his biggest hits, the venue shook like a riot was about to ensue. About five minutes into the set, the album’s overarching concept fully hit me; this set could very well be the commencement of the apocalypse. I was prepared. I hunkered down and put my best trap-face on and kept dancing.

RL’s stage presence was also a noteworthy element to the show. He was having just as much fun as the crowd was and the energy in the room was palpable. He humbly accepted his role as “Life of the Party” from his dark pulpit before the packed crowd, and he delivered exactly what everyone in attendance wanted. To anyone who thinks trap music’s time in the sun is over, go see the Void Tour if you can. You’ll be eating your words. And for anyone who thinks that trap music is a cheaply produced, maligned sub-genre of hip-hop, listen to RL Grime’s latest record. It’ll change the standard of trap music for you.

Admittedly, I was one of these people just a short time ago. I thought I grew out of trap music after I grew out of sophomoric, sticky, vodka-soaked college pregames. I thought the trap music palette was unsophisticated and generally not too creative. Void flipped those misconceptions upside down and delivered the one-two punch I needed to realize that I still love trap music with all my heart. Ultimately it showed me that when done to the meticulous degree of detail that RL Grime spent on his record and live show, trap music can still captivate crowds and tear the house down.

Anyone who said moombahton has had its day is dead wrong. The latin-inspired sub-genre seemed to be garnering some steam in years past, but has since slowed down and become more a niche sound for fine-tuned tastes, positioned somewhere between dance hall and house music. Now however, moombahton may be making a comeback, with the likes of Dillon Francis announcing a full moombahton EP this year, and and DJ Snake and Skrillex weighing in on the genre’s return.

Previewed in a short Youtube video, perhaps from Holy Ship!’s second sailing this past week, Skrillex drops the syrupy 110bpm tune alongside his Parisian collaborator. The tune is far from what you’d expect from Skrill, packing in high-frequency lead synths, complete with latin-inspired, shoulder-shaking tribal drum work. DJ Snake even took to twitter to confirm the tune, alluding to a first-listen that may be sooner than we all think.

@ShotsLotta soon

— DJ SNAKE (@djsnake) February 22, 2015

Snake, known to be charmingly concise, assures fans in all of one whole word that one of the biggest collaborations of the year will be available to eager fans before we know it. Without a release date or even a name to go by, it looks like its a waiting game from here, although it may be a lot shorter than people think. Stay tuned.

Phoenix, Arizona could be the next place to establish the newest up-and-coming festival destination in the country. With Las Vegas hosting EDC‘s largest U.S. installment and southern California being the home of both Coachella and HARD Summer, it seems as only a matter of time before Phoenix taps into the festival market. The Valley of the Sun is preparing to host the first annual Phoenix Lights Festival on March 22nd, rounding off their headliner announcement with a star-studded cast of performers. The event’s inaugural bill will be lead by Hardwell, Robin Schulz, Route 94, Lane 8, and most recently confirmed, Canadian bass gods Zeds Dead.

Although the full roster of acts has yet to be announced, Phoenix Lights is already promising a colorful variety of performances from some of dance music’s most sought-after performers. The newly announced event is promising to bring leading-edge designs, interactive art, and vibrant lighting displays to the mix. Lead by a very impressive list of headliners, Phoenix Lights is gearing up to deliver what could grow into the next big west coast event.
