<p>Major Lazer stayed true to their style with this one, and for that reason I was already stoked. The forever killin’ it vibes of Pharrell accompanying the track brings it to the next level. Without missing a beat Williams flows, seemingly breathless through the whole track with lyrics that also stays true to the Lazer style.</p>
<div>Hearing it for the first time I thought, “fuck yeah, Major Lazer. Get it.” My second thought thereafter was, “I can’t wait for some sort of ‘trap’ remix.”</div>
<div></div>
<div>My hopes came into fruition when last week, the king of the “refix,”  Mr. Carmack dropped a bangin’ edit of the track.</div>
<div></div>
<div>[soundcloud url=&#8221;https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/137090962&#8243; params=&#8221;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_artwork=true&#8221; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; height=&#8221;166&#8243; iframe=&#8221;true&#8221; /]</div>
<div></div>
<div>Carmack’s remix, in my opinion, is an example of how a remix should be; reminiscent of the original, but a completely new take on the track itself. Carmack did just that as he used very selective samples from the original mix, and even adds new vocal samples to give the original mix a swift kick in the pants, such as the deep patois reggae vocal sample that accompanies the build up.</div>
<div></div>
<div>If you know me at all, nothing hypes me up more than patois reggae vocals, which before the first break, hooked me in immediately. At that point I knew I would hearing this remix in many live sets to come.</div>
<div></div>
<div>The drop hits you like bars of soap inside of a sock. The first 808 hits on the fourth beat in the first measure, as we’ve heard in many of the other mainstream trap tracks you’ve heard in the past year.</div>
<div></div>
<div>These toned 808s continue throughout as the melody is carried by a catchy and raw synth, while minimal vocal samples from the original Pharrell verse act as percussive grooves in the overall mix.</div>
<div></div>
<div>This “refix,” as it were, is less than three minutes which goes to show that it was made purely for the use of fucking shit up in a set. Needless to say if you aren’t familiar with Mr. Carmack, you best familiarize yo’self.</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="https://justnoisetome.com/tag/major-lazer">Major Lazer</a>’s killin’ it, obviously Pharrell is killin’ it, now you know <a href="https://justnoisetome.com/tag/mr-carmack/">Carmack </a>is killin’ it. It&#8217;s going to be a great festival season ya’ll. Get ready. And get ready to hear this track in many a set to come.</div>

<p><a href="https://justnoisetome.com/tag/mad-decent">Mad Decent</a>’s poster child, <strong>Major Lazer</strong>, released their new EP titled <em>Apocalypse Soon</em> this past Tuesday. Despite some changes in membership over the years, this is seventh EP released by <a href="https://justnoisetome.com/tag/major-lazer">Major Lazer</a> on top of two studio albums since the group first formed in 2009.</p>
<p><em>Apocalypse Soon</em> consists of five tracks in total, with some notable guests from the Hip-Hop world such as <strong>Sean Paul</strong> and <strong>Pharrell</strong>. This EP is straight funky, opening with Pharrell William’s deranged, Moombah-Step ballad titled “Aerosol Can”. Pharrell’s generous use of quote-unquote, the N word, and Major Lazer’s latin-style drum arrangement will easily remind you of your childhood.</p>
<p>Although Sean Paul has never been my niche, “Come On To Me” could be considered one of the better tracks from his career and takes us back to Major Lazer’s “Guns Don’t Kill People…” days.</p>
<p>[soundcloud url=&#8221;https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/135535734&#8243; params=&#8221;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_artwork=true&#8221; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; height=&#8221;166&#8243; iframe=&#8221;true&#8221; /]</p>
<p>Continuing on, Major Lazer spits out some real bangers for you with “Sound Bang” and “Lose Yourself”, throw those on and tell me you’re not dancing in your seat wishing your Macbook speakers weren’t so blown out from all the dubstep you played three years ago.</p>
<p>Closing with “Dale Asi”, a track fueled by Hip-Hop beats and sliding synths overlaid with Spanish vocals, Major Lazer embodies everything they’ve aspired to be: a seamless blend of Reggaeton-Electro-Dance Hall.</p>
<p>[soundcloud url=&#8221;https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/134310212&#8243; params=&#8221;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_artwork=true&#8221; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; height=&#8221;166&#8243; iframe=&#8221;true&#8221; /]</p>
<p>While this is going to be a successful release for the trio, <a href="https://justnoisetome.com/tag/apocalypse-soon"><em>Apocalypse Soon </em></a>in no way could be considered their best work. We should definitely expect to see some awesome remixes come off this EP throughout the year, especially as festival season gets closer. So if Major Lazer’s newest release didn’t blow your pants off, at least we should have that to look forward to.</p>

<p>In this new year, we are already seeing artists push the envelope in fresh, new, cutting-edge ways. Delivering innovative spins left and right, and blurring the genre lines with a creative disregard for the rules, we are beginning to see more artists change the typical conventions. Dance music is evolving quickly as sounds intersect in novel ways, and FIGHT CLVB is proving that genre is a term of the past with the release of their latest; a thumping rework of Major Lazer&#8217;s &#8220;Aerosol Can.&#8221;</p>
<p>We are proud to premiere FIGHT CLVB&#8217;s newest selection as they come through with a thundering club-primed edit of Major Lazer&#8217;s single from their forthcoming Apocalypse Soon EP, slated to be released via Mad Decent later this month. FIGHT CLVB take the original track and flip it upside down, as they bend Major Lazer&#8217;s signature dance hall sound into a pumping bass selection, perfect for the club atmosphere.</p>

<p>Modifying the original with a pounding drum arrangement during the intro that carries through the entire remix, FIGHT CLVB&#8217;s edit warps Pharrell&#8217;s vocal work into precise chops and loops, accentuated by the obvious addition of some serious sub treatment. Fusing the original&#8217;s reggae/ dance hall elements with the club aesthetic, &#8220;Aerosol Can&#8221; is energized with a completely unique vibe that is meant to turn club dance floors into jam-packed party saunas.</p>
<p>Best of all, FIGHT CLVB is giving their &#8220;Aerosol Can&#8221; edit away as a free download. Check out the stream below, and be sure to download this sure-to-be club rattler.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">In preparation of their release of <em>Apocalypse Soon</em>, Major Lazer has released their latest track with none other than Sean Paul. The new EP has a list of surprise guests including Pharell Williams, Machel Montano, Mr. Fox, and more.</p>

To be completely honest, I don&#8217;t hate this song as much as I thought I would when I saw that Sean Paul was involved. If anything, he improves the song&#8217;s Dance Hall vibes with his weird yet distinct Jamaican vocals.</p>
<p>This is the kind of music Paul should have been making, or at least should start making now.</p>
<p><em>Apocalypse Soon </em>is shaping up to be a pretty sick EP from Major Lazer, who has been going through some interesting transitioning over the past couple of years. It seems that now, however, the trio of ML (consisting of Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire) has tightened up their production styles and are on their way to making huge waves yet again.</p>
