The mix contains jawns from Ta-ku, HudMo, Djemba, Kastle, and even Justin “Bugatti Biebs” Bieber—who, I might add, has been killing it lately. Having released a series of teasers as well as a cherubic full-length rendition of What So Grime‘s “Tell Me” just hours ago, there’s no question as to whether the Amsterdam bass wizard has plenty of magic up his sleeve waiting to be unleashed.

GANZ experienced his biggest burst of recognition when he dropped a remix of the popular Hermitude x Flume collab, “Hyperparadise”, which received over 250,000 plays on Soundcloud. Not a bad way to start the New Year, eh?

Although he didn’t make the official HARD Summer 2014 lineup (where you at Gary Richards?), GANZ is certainly an artist you don’t want to sleep on this year. Who knows? Maybe he could be the next Diplo….

Okay probably not, but he’s definitely worth a listen.

Hey all you EDM fans out there! We’re back at it again with another exclusive episode of TurtleGravy Tuesday! This week we’re hitting you with a delicious mix brought to you by the kind folk over at NPR. Hang on to your taste buds!

If you didn’t listen to that all the way through, then you’re really missing out. This mix is packed with unreleased material from a slew of hot new artists. Props to The Splendid Table for their diverse style ranging from Australian steak-house to Turkey clubstep with a hint of Trapatío just to keep things spicy!

This is a mix for any culinary occasion. Whether you’re dicing up some beets in the kitchen with your mom or going HAM with your turnip buddies  on the weekend, you’re bound to get something out of tasty TST exclusive. It’ll be interesting to see what these up-and-comers have cooked up for festival season. I’m willing to bet on a Lil B collab in the coming months.

DJ Hoodboi is at the forefront of the rising Jersey Club movement, putting out numerous R&B-heavy club remixes and originals over the past year. This mix perfectly embodies the East Coast EDM craze, including tracks almost exclusively from other Jersey crusaders. Among them are DJ Sliink, DJ Uniique, DJ Tray, and the ever-elusive Trippy Turtle.

Instead of flaunting his presence all over the social mediaverse, Hoodboi opts for donning a mask and allowing his syncopated rhythms to speak for themselves. There’s plenty of speculation as to who exactly this dude is, but no conclusive evidence has surfaced.

His contribution to Nest HQ does raise some questions. For example: who knew A$AP Ferg‘s beloved trap battle cry, Work, would fit so smoothly over a soothing club melody? And what better way to end a mix than with Hoodboi’s own collaborative remix of Sucka by August Alsina ft. Lloyd? The track was reworked earlier this year alongside previously mentioned co-conspirators DJ Sliink and Trippy Turtle. It’s already been featured in essentially every notable Jersey Club mix to hit Soundcloud and will inevitably become a festival favorite this season.

This is a mix for converting all those cynical peeps, reluctant to submit to the new wave of bass music. Like your friend who swears trap music will be the coolest shit for all eternity… the same kid who thought dubstep would be the coolest shit for all eternity… You get it.

(TurtleTip: As much as we all love trap music [seriously, it rules] EDM is a hyperdynamic culture. In layman’s terms, things change. Don’t get too caught up with current trends, be brave enough to start your own.)

Basically, what I’m saying is be like DJ Hoodboi. Except, now that I said that, DJ Hoodboi sucks and you should be thinking about what’s cool in 2015. Otherwise you’re just a poseur… Lol jk.

This past week, French juggernaut DJ SNAKE dropped a vicious BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. Guess what else, IT’S TWO FREAKING HOURS LONG! So, yeah you know the drill…

DJ SNAKE hardly needs an introduction, considering he dropped two of the most poppin’ trap anthems of 2013 with “Bird Machine” and “Turn Down For What” feat. Lil’ Jon. But can we please talk about him starting them mix off with a house remix of Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise”? I mean, who does that?! That’s right, a genius does that.

Honestly, there are almost too many gems in this mix. SNAKE’s remix-laden set includes everything from Drake to Janet Jackson, The Fugees to Milo & Otis, with plenty of genre-mashing ranging from funk house and festival trap to booty tech and and Jersey club.

I’d say save this mix for your trendiest hipster friends who ONLY appreciate a wide variety of music and nothing else. However, the transitions are squeaky-clean and the drops are so tasty that pretty much any sort of EDM fan can find something they dig. Even if that means they only like “Dark Horse”…

(TurtleTip: If you do know people who worship Katy Perry, do your best not to ridicule them; instead take the high ground and educate them by sending them a link to our blog. )

The second mix I stumbled across is a guest mix LA-based duo Vindata did for the homies over at GottaDanceDirty. It’s super forward-thinking and (hopefully) provides an accurate glimpse at what EDM will look like in 2014 and beyond. Check it!

A self-proclaimed “genre-bending collectivce created in 2010”, Vindata combines Jersey club, love trap, and future garage, seasoned with a little bit of that zany LA beat music flavor to create a progressive concoction of edgy underground sounds.

As of now, these guys are well under the radar. Hopefully this mix receives the exposure it deserves and gains them a little street cred. They’ve got a dreamy four-track EP release under their belts and have produced plenty of remixes for some of my favorite artists including Flume, Little Dragon, and Toro y Moi. Personally, I’m rooting for these dudes to emerge from the underground and make it to some prestigious festies this season.

This here is the mix you save for your hippest of friends. You know, the ones who can’t stand the word “EDM” and love to post statuses about how “the scene isn’t the same” and “where were you in 2005, bro?” We were in sixth grade, alright? Everyone had a MySpace phase…

(TurtleTip: This is the stuff everyone will be jamming to by the end of 2014. Be the cool friend who exposes the gang to some catchy new vibes, man. They’ll thank you later.)

Last week

I’ve resorted back to my nasty trap habits, and I came across two mixes that really got me all hot and bothered. The first of which is is Flosstradamus‘s long-awaited BNNED 3D Mixtape. It’s 2014 and these guys no longer require any sort of intro. So just listen, would ya?

The third installment of Flossy‘s BNNED series is characterized by the Chicago duo’s unwavering taste for twerk-friendly party music and massive festie trap, the same brands of music that sent the #HDYBYZ to the forefront of the global trap explosion and earned them a spot on this year’s Coachella lineup.

If you ever find yourself on Greek Row without any recollection of when or how you got there, be sure to put this mix on. It’s short, sweet, and will allot you just enough time to either escape or stay and do something so utterly PLURNT you’ll be considered a pledge class legend for centuries to come.

The second of the two mixes is THUGLI’s BBCR1 Diplo & Friends Mix. I wasn’t all too familiar with the Canadian duo prior to this week. But it appears as if trapmania has found its way into the tender hands of our brothers to the north. And lo and behold, they’re absolutely slaying the genre!

THUGLI, comprised of Pat Drastik and Tom Wrecks, take eclecticism to a whole new level, utilizing tracks by everyone from Purity Ring to Pusha T to Ta-ku to Araabmuzik; they even manage to toss in plenty of their own originals and remixes.

This mix is perfect for impressing that cute raver fairy chick that met at HARD Summer. She looooves hula hooping but haaaates the Harlem Shake. THUGLI falls somewhere in the middle, allowing her to manifest her oneness with the universe but still get a little buckwild.
