Coming off of Beyonce’s big VMA performance, The Hood Internet has brought us ‘DiviXO’ a mashup of her ‘XO’ single and Porter Robinson‘s epic electronic opus ‘Divinity’.

This is one of those mash ups that blends perfect even if they have different emotional feels. Opposites must attract because Robinson’s aggressive guitar intro goes perfect with Bey’s soft serenade “Your love is bright as ever”. This is a slow jam on steroids. Beyonce’s part is a love serenade demanding her lover to stop wasting time. Where Porter takes us on a soul searching journey at light speed. The dynamic breakdown of beats by Porter is used by The Hood Internet to take Beyonce’s love lust anthem to that next level, to feel a little bit more like an addicted lover craving more.

The Hood Internet continues on their recent trend of using more R&B in their mash-ups by featuring the red hot Beyonce coming of her Video Vanguard win and performance.

This fall is going to be huge for Porter Robinson fans as he sets off on a forty-stop North American tour. Starting in August in Vancouver and ending in October in Miami, FL, Porter Robinson will be dominating the US and Canada in support of his newest album, Worlds.

Porter Robinson has truly outdone himself. This huge electronic tune is to be released tomorrow as one of the tracks to appear on his highly anticipated debut album, Worlds. “Sea of Voices” is a beautifully constructed track with a euphoric foundation.

From beginning to end, you can feel the powerful ambiance it unleashes tied in with intrinsically elegant vocals. As if Tegan & Sara’s “Closer” was not good enough already, the Chi-Town duo X5IGHT‘s progressive-house remix of it blows the original away.

With influences of Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell, Swedish House Mafia, Porter Robinson, Zedd and Afrojack, X5IGHT’s “Closer” remix is for sure not one to be missed.

The song starts off slow, progresses into an upbeat tune in combination of the Canadian duo’s voices lingering over the euphoric rhythm as the drops rises. If you didn’t already sing along to this song, X5IGHT completes that mission. I know I will be singing it to and from class.

Today, Porter Robinson has released an official announcement for his newest upcoming album, Worlds, in one of the most bizarre ways I’ve ever seen: a ten hour YouTube video with nothing but a robotic voice chanting the album title with geometric shapes and images being displayed at random.

This is really exciting news for any Porter Robinson fan who’s been thirsty for some new tracks since his 2011 release, Spitfire, which completely dominated the EDM community for at least a year.

While we’ve gotten some collaborations and mixes from the young producer including “Easy” with Mat Zo and one of the best Ultra sets ever, nothing will be quite as amazing as what I’m assuming will be a new full-length album. There is still no official date for the Worlds release.

EDM heroes such as Dillon Francis, Kill the Noise, Destructo, and Porter Robinson make OWSLA seem like a fancy dinner party to which only the best of the best get invited.  In short, an OWSLA sticker on an album is like a shining seal of excellence, and that’s why we get so stoked every time they announce a new name on their label.

Although they’ve been on OWSLA’s list for a bit, (Since their Make It Bun Dem remix impressed Skrillex so much that he put them on the label) the Teddy Killerz have been flying under the radar, only producing singles, remixes, and a few short EPs.   The Russian/Ukrainian duo has been all over the scene; they’ve dabbled in everything from trap, to Drum and Bass, to Dubstep, to something they’ve labeled as “teddystep”.  For a time, it was difficult to see just where the murderous and lovable plush bears were headed, but OWSLA knew.  OWSLA knew the whole time.

Teddy Killerz’ latest album, Teddy Massacre, is their second release under Skrill’s monster label, and it seems that the boys really rose to the occasion for this one.  While Teddy Massacre may be as diversified as their previous work, it all seems to come together in a neatly wrapped, funky, and horrifying package.  The first song on the release, Cult, feels like an easy-listening house track mixed with a barrage of heavy-handed beats and drops.  Pandora gives off a trance-influenced, soothing dubstep vibe, before slapping you with a sexy saxophone breakdown (seriously, skip to about 2:00 if you don’t believe me) and falling back into some thick and dirty grooves.

The album as a whole is undeniably impressive, and although the diversity here is obvious, the Teddy Killerz seem to have finally defined themselves stylistically.  OWSLA made a good call with these guys, and after Teddy Massacre, it won’t be long before the Killerz are rubbing elbows with the big dogs.

This year’s event was one of the best of its kind to date; from some incredible up-and-coming acts to the world’s biggest and best DJs, Sound Wave was the place to be this past weekend. Incredible artists and an awesome energy filled both the outside street stage and inside the Maya Day + Night Club as thousands of people from all across the valley came together for one fun-filled day.

One of the first artists we got to check out was Arizona native Brazzabelle who had everyone at the Maya stage dancing for her entire set. As the sun beat down on attendees, Brazzabelle kept the party going playing some of the best big-room house, and lead right into another JNTM favorite, DJ Craze. 

Craze was definitely a surprise to most of the Scottsdale crowd as he dropped the biggest and boomiest trap and hip hop tracks this audience had ever seen. He was also a great artist to watch as he was able to get the whole crowd to react to his set.

While Craze was killing it inside Maya, we also got to check out Miami favorites and artists on the rise, Brass Knuckles who are making some pretty big waves (no pun intended) in the EDM community by combining a traditional electronic setup with live instrumentation. They’re known for calling themselves a “band” rather than just another DJ group — which could not be more true. These guys completely dominated the street stage with their huge drops and sick guitar solos.

As the sun began to set and the audience continued to grow, another JNTM favorite took the Maya stage by storm. Drezo wasted no time with his performance at Sound Wave. Dropping some of the best deep house tracks including Brodinski’s “Nobody Rules the Streets” and his own secret weapon, “Rogue,”  Drezo had the Scottsdale crowd blown away.

Finally, as the opening acts were coming to an end, Porter Robinson took to the stage in his first performance in AZ since his stop in Tempe for his Language Tour in 2012. Simply put, Porter was one of the hardest hitting acts of the entire day. Playing a lot of his stuff featured in this year’s Ultra performance, it was no surprise that he had EVERYONE dancing and jumping in the streets.

Of course, what Sound Wave would be complete without a performance from a world-wide legend. Last year, the festival headlined with Kaskade, who was recently awarded by DJ Mag as America’s Best DJ. This year, Scottsdale was lucky enough to get the world-renowned and EDM legend Tiesto to end the festival. One of the best parts of Tiesto’s set was the fact that he played some of his older tracks like Elements of Life. Like Porter, Tiesto had the entire block party jumping and dancing well into the night.

As the night came to an end and everyone shuffled out of the venue with their ears still ringing from a day full of awesome dance music, there was hardly anything to complain about. All in all Sound Wave was a smooth running event that definitely put Scottsdale on the map as a hot spot for DJs around the world. We look forward to seeing what Disco Donnie Presents and Steve LeVine Entertainment have in store for the future!

Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations and Disco Donnie Presents are teaming up to bring you one of the biggest EDM music festivals in Arizona for the fourth year in a row. Taking place both inside Maya Day + Nightclub and between Indian Plaza road and Saddlebag Trail (just south of Camelback Road) in Old Town Scottsdale, this year’s Sound Wave is going to be one for the books.

With artists from all over the world busting out some of the biggest tracks of today, Sound Wave promises to be one of the best shows to celebrate the end of summer.

The headlining acts alone are enough reason to check out this show: Tiesto, who has spent this year headlining shows like Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, and a sold out show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, returns to Scottsdale along with Porter Robinson who has also been killing it around the globe (especially with one of our favorite sets of Ultra 2013). Other notable artists to watch out for at this year’s Sound Wave include Amtrac, Treasure Fingers, and Cave Creek native Brazzabelle.

UPDATE: Sound Wave has just announced that our good friend Drezo will be performing at this year’s event, along with DJ DECiPHA, Jerry Wang, DJ Soulman, Arizona native Pickster One, and many more!
